Orange silica gel is a drying agent that absorbs moisture by accumulating it inside each pellet.
It is a very useful tool to dry crops faster.
Put a base of silica gel inside a box, then newspaper and the crop on top. You will see how quickly it dries.
Another use of silica gel is to prevent moisture from returning, so when we preserve seeds we add a little silica gel so that they do not pick up moisture or when we store the harvest already dry, we also put a little silica gel so that do not get wet.
When the orange silica gel can no longer hold any more moisture it turns dark green.
For maximum safety, avoid direct contact of the gel with the crop. It is not toxic.
